CNC milling machines

In order to use DeskProto you definitely need a CNC milling machine. DeskProto writes an NC toolpath file, and you can send this file to the machine. Machines do exist in very many sizes and qualities, from say USD 1,000 to USD 1,000,000 - depending on size, speed, stability etc. So for every need a matching machine will be available!
On the bottom of this page you can find links for Control Software.

Control Software

Most large CNC milling machines have a complete computer built in, capable of directly loading the NC file that was written by DeskProto.
Most (lowcost) smaller machines however need to be connected to a PC in order to function. That PC runs Control Software: a computer program that is in fact the control panel (user interface) of the machine. For more information on Control software see An introduction to CAM software.

Below you will find a list of the most commonly used control software.
